11 Mar Pharaon new chair of the health and care cluster’s working group on dissemination

Pharaon has been an active contributor to the health and care cluster initiative coordinated by OPENDEI since its beginning and has now deepened its commitment by taking over the chair of the working group on dissemination in 2021.

The health and care cluster initiative seeks to align large-scale pilots, reference architectures and open platforms through platform and data ecosystem building, large scale piloting and standardization.

The digitisation of the healthcare system has been underway since at least the 1990s but has evolved slowly due to a number of major barriers. The main ones to highlight are the complexity of healthcare systems, the nature of the patient-healthcare professional relationship, the resistance of clinicians to change the way they work, and legal and ethical issues such as privacy and the sensitivity of healthcare data. Hence, an active collaboration between the various stakeholders has always and still is a prerequisite for success.

The health care sector cluster currently consists of 8 projects – Pharaon, Smart4Health, Gatekeeper, Smartbear, Adlife, InteropEHRate, Shapes and Faith – that span 20 countries and 41 pilots. The cluster which is supported by EHTEL as ambassador, is structured along 5 working groups:

Working Group 1 focuses on joint dissemination opportunities for the cluster’s members, from common dissemination materials to collaborative presentations at conferences. Working Group 4 is also led by Pharaon and focuses on architectures, standards, reusable components with the objectives to:

  • Stimulate coordination and cooperation among participating projects in health and care domain and stakeholders to achieve synergies and deliver value,
  • Share knowledge, (common/best) practices, valuable materials and information,
  • Identify common points and detect gaps.

Pharaon is looking forward to continuing the great collaboration within the health and care cluster in its new role as Chair of the working group on dissemination.
