The SIRIUS project “Sensorized pad for pressure and proximity monitoring during in-home active aging training activities”, aims to integrate a novel human-proximity monitoring technology into a walkable, compact, portable and easy-to-use pad to be used by older patients during the physical training exercises executed at home (or in the hospital). The proximity capacitive technology embedded into the pad, enhance the monitoring of the patient to a new level, in fact it allows a non-planar reconstruction and recording of the main movement parameters during the activities, enabling a clear, complete, and comprehensive understanding of the patient’s possible problems through remote monitoring during the exercises. The SIRIUS technology will be integrated by Mediate Srl (MEDI), a company specialized in the development of advanced and innovative products, with the main goal to functional validate the technology into an independent pilot at Fondazione Policlinico Universitario Campus Bio-Medico di Roma (FPUCBM) – geriatric unit, with the support of the Università Campus Bio-Medico di Roma (UCBM) for clinical engineering support and pre-validation of the device. The Project aims to demonstrate the concept with older patients through a hospital pilot, simulating a full at home patient’s condition, using complete IoT connectivity and simulating the remote presence of the physician for evaluating the acceptability of the technology by the patients. The SIRIUS technology will be integrated with the Pharaon ecosystem in order to create an independent pilot that, using a complete novel technology, demonstrate the Pharaon connectivity and scalability also out of the Consortium in a completely new application case.
