Pharaon presented at Slovene National Public Health Conference

The Pharaon project was presented at the 2nd National Public Health Conference, held on October 1–2, 2024, in Maribor, Slovenia. The Slovenian team showcased a scientific paper titled Enhancing Quality of Life for Older Adults: Insights from the Slovenian Pharaon Pilot Project. The presentation highlighted Slovenia’s contributions to the Pharaon initiative. The pilot project involved 73 older adults across six retirement homes, testing innovative tools and services aimed at improving quality of life, independence, and social inclusion. The tested solutions included:

  • Indoor air quality sensors (e.g., IoTool, SmartHabits) to monitor temperature, humidity, and CO₂ levels;
  • Smartwatches to track physical activity and ensure safety;
  • SeniorsPhone for simplified communication;
  • The Daisy video conferencing system for connecting with relatives and healthcare professionals.

Key findings underscored older adults’ preference for simple, intuitive technologies like air quality sensors and smartwatches. While tools like SeniorsPhone and Daisy were appreciated, their complexity posed a challenge, emphasizing the need for user-friendly designs and comprehensive training sessions. The project’s outcomes demonstrated the importance of tailoring technological solutions to the unique needs of older adults, promoting independent living and overall well-being. The insights gained will guide further development of digital tools for healthy aging.
